Drink Red Wine To Your Health

Published by Adaeze Zheng at 4:53 am under Articles, Information about Wine

A saying once said “An apple a day keeps the doctors away.” However, due to recent studies it now says “A glass of wine keeps the doctors away.”

Good news isn’t it and it is true! This “good news” is being carried to wine lovers around the globe by medical publications, the media and even some wine companies. But this news is not only true today. 5000 years ago, wine has been widely used as antiseptic, tranquilizer or sedative and as a hypnotic. However, before you spend money on the finest wine in the market take note of the points below:

1.) Please take into account that red wine was used for the study of the health benefits of wine. Red wine was specially used because not only was the grape fruit itself pressed but also the grape’s skin and seeds as well. Thus red wine contains the highest concentration of anti-oxidant that could help fight cancer. Another important chemical found in red wine is “Resveratrol”. Our hearts benefits from Resveratrol because it helps clear plaques in the arteries. A clogged artery could lead to many heart diseases.

2.) Drinking red wine in excess can increase the risk of high blood pressure, and likely damage to the heart, liver, kidneys and brain. Researchers recommend that a person only consume two standard glasses of red wine per day to avoid further health complications.

3.) As red wine gets more expensive the more it contains antioxidants and Resveratrol. Why? Simply because the expensive red wines have richer grape fruits.

4.) The more health benefits one gets if he couples red wine drinking with exercise. According to Time magazine, in a study of the very same topic, showed how that “people who don’t drink at all and don’t exercise had the highest risk of heart disease. People who drink moderately and exercise had a 50% lower risk. People who exercised but did not drink wine had a 30% decreased risk, as did moderately drinking couch potatoes.”

5.) Age and health issues must also come into consideration when it comes to drinking red wine. The same study in the Time Magazine also mentioned that there is no “any coronary good until you reach the age at which heart disease becomes an appreciable risk.” It is also emphasized that by the researchers that “there is absolutely no proof of a preventative and protective effect before age 45.” Young women are not even advised to drink wine even in moderation especially if they have a family history of alcoholism. Another thing is that women who drink wine at a younger age become more prone to breast cancer.
