The Right Way to Drink Red Wine
Red wine is a fantastic way to complement any meal and is very popular all across the western world. This fantastic wine gets its colour from the grapes used to produce it and it is the grape skin colour that makes red wine red. This wine is also very popular with many chefs as it is a great ingredient to many a fine cuisine, although generally table wines are used in food cooking which are of lesser quality and cheaper than the vintage ones.
The Taste of a good red wine changes over time and if you store it in the correct way it will vastly improve over the years. Red wine is produced using either black or red grapes and its colour depends on how long the grapes are left with the juice during the fermenting process. Red wines are generally more expensive than white wines and there are in the region of 50 varieties of grape used to produce the various types. Red wine should never be chilled as this will adversely affect the taste and should be enjoyed at room temperatures of around 50 degrees.
Red wine is often served in glasses that are small and stout with wide bowls, whereas white wine is tends to be in much taller, slimmer glasses. The type of glass used it important as you need to allow the red wine to come into contact with the air so that it oxidizes, which will ensure that you get the full benefit from the flavours of the wine. Have you ever noticed a red wine tester swirling their glass before they take a taste of a red wine? Well letting the air get into the wine is why. So when you next plan a meal with friends, buy a bottle of good quality red wine and make sure you serve it in the correct glasses as this will make the evening a much more enjoyable event.
